Kate Davies
Manager Digital Rental
Kate runs digital.
Manages, is not descriptive enough for what she does and how she does it at Sunshine. The term tight ship comes closer perhaps.
Super alert, attentive and knowledgeable Kate is the most on the ball person here. Having run digital rentals since 2007 and as an avid photographer herself, she knows what we have, what works best and is always willing to share her knowledge and give you some advice.
If you think you are stuck choosing gear for a project, call Kate and within 7 minutes, it’ll all seem simple. -
Clement Matthews
Manager Lighting Rental
Clement is above everything else, well connected and knows a lot, about a lot. He is also a Profoto equipment master and Briese specialist and has been heavily involved with lighting for the last 7 years. There’s not much Clement doesn’t know how to use, can’t set up or break down when it comes to photographic and video lighting.
Never fazed, thrives on pressure and loves a challenge, don’t hesitate to put your most complicated lighting questions to Clement and get the most from your shoot as a result. -
Salama Ogier
Junior Manager Digital & Video Rental
She’s a super sharp, go getter who has a passion for film and insists on getting things done right!
She has a degree in visual communication and film from UCT and with a wealth of information about both stills and video cameras, lenses and the range of accessories needed for both at her fingertips, you can be sure of getting quality advice, speedy service and always a big smile from Salama.
The only thing that can possibly throw Salama during the day, is figuring out if her abs or her KFC is more important at that moment… -
David Shields
Assistant Lighting Rental
Hyperness personified.
You’ll have a tough time trying to keep up with David, but come in and give it a bash…A good way to pass some time at the very least.
David is eager and willing to help any and everyone, always.
From carrying huge lighting bags as if they were weightless to giving sound advice about the range of light shapers on offer, David will do it all. And he’ll do it all smiling and at at least twice the speed of regular people! -
Lindsay van Wyck
Assistant Lighting Rental
A “fantastical” human being with an almost abnormal passion for sandwiches.
Lindsay has a huge amount of experience in many diverse fields. Combined with a drive for job satisfaction, makes him capable of handling almost any situation our industry can throw at him and he always does it with a huge smile and an extremely positive attitude! -
Hendre Louw
Profoto Marketing & Sales Manager
He’s from Pretoria, but we don’t hold that against him…too often.
Since making the move down to the Mother City, Hendre has done wonders with the Profoto brand in South Africa.
His eagerness and passion for Profoto, coupled with his substantial experience as a commercial photographer and as a teacher for his own photographic courses, makes him an invaluable member of the Sunshine team.
If you need lights, he will maak ‘n plan! -
Michael North
Hasselblad Sales & Marketing Manager
Michael is most probably the calmest, most approachable guy here at Sunshine. Add this to his extraordinary understanding of Hasselblad, and people, and perhaps then you will understand why on Earth we hired him.
Whether it’s riding mountain bikes, romancing his girl or explaining for the 50th time how to work a Black Rapid strap, Michael is never one to crack under pressure and is always available for any advice (just do not call him for any home DIY work). And of course, he sells Hasselblad cameras, every now and then. -
Duncan Frew
Technical Manager Profoto
Duncan’s job title should read, “Technical Magician and Profoto Repairs Wizard.”
We are pretty sure he can fix anything that has an electrical current and almost everything else that doesn’t.
He’s built shelves, fixed pot lids and even shaped a skateboard or two, all while elbows deep in circuit boards and flash tubes.
Whatever lighting system you use, no matter how broken or unusable you think it is, bring in it, chances are Duncan will get it up and running again, in a flash! -
Adrian Nakic
Director Lighting Rental & Sales
Sunshine director, Adrian has been published as a photographer in countless glossy fashion magazines in Europe and continues to photograph commercially when the time allows. He knows what photographers want, need and how their minds work under pressure. Relaxed but extremely professional and forever striving for increased efficiency, Adrian’s ethos has rubbed off on all at Sunshine and it’s easy to see why! Really the only way to get him to stop thinking about photography and improving Sunshine Company, is to mention red wine, or fast cars, or sky-diving, or French cuisine, or…

Joerg Steffens
Director Digital Rental & Sales
Adrian’s other half.. Director of Sunshine with a verging on obsessive interest in anything digital and tech. Where Adrian is about volume and end results, Joerg is about accuracy and process…Except when it comes to desserts…These assets, together with both directors’ dedication to reliability, lead to nothing but impressive and ever improving results. Joerg is also extremely understated, a very skilled photographer, highly talented re-toucher and an expert at image processing. To him, any situation, like any image, is always workable… you just have to see it through the right channels.

Dynamite comes in small packages.
This has never been truer than for someone like Yumna.
She’s deceptively sharp witted and professional. Loves a joke but only when her desk is clear and she has the time, of course.
Yumna’s in charge of the money at Sunshine, so be nice to her, we all are ... it’s just safer that way. -
Zarina Esack
Financial Manager
The driving force behind Sunshine, an extremely talented Financial Manager with a Bachelors in Economics from U.W.C. She knows everything about Sunshine Co, inside and out. But this is obvious and boring and she will tell you that. What’s most impressive about Zarina is her drive and dedication to everything she sets her mind to. Be it financial planning, TAX returns, learning to swim, running a half marathon, training with boot camp or, as she did recently, completing the “Impi challenge.” If she thinks it, she will complete it. And she will persuade at least 4 friends, old or new, to join her on the adventure.

Natasha Norton
Credit Control
Our new debt collector.
Accounting runs in Natasha’s family and she’s a natural.
Only works a couple of days a week at Sunshine but gets more done and sorted in that time than the rest of us do in a week.
Give her a problem and before you’ve had a chance to finish the sentence, she’s figured out what to do to solve it.
Natasha is also the only one at Sunshine that can keep up with Zarina in a foot race…almost. -
Samuel Mwanza
Floor Assistant
The latest addition to the Sunshine family.
Sam is the “go to” guy for the lighting rental team primarily, but is involved with everyone.
Super keen and eager to learn Sam is always busy doing something at Sunshine. Loading up the vans, packing gear for jobs going out, re-applying the silver on the bounce boards or cleaning the packs, it’s never a calm moment here for Sam. -
Monica Zanele
Housekeeping
Mama Monica…
Sunshine would not be what it is, or look anywhere near as good as it does, without Monica.
And without her super coffee-making skills, most of Sunshine would be a lot less active and attentive during the day. An absolute necessity, that’s for sure!
