Scrim Jim or Butterfly Frame?
Many times people have inquired with us as to what is the better option to use on set. Truthfully they both have the ability to interchange either the scrim or reflection fabric which means they both achieve the same effects. However the most significant difference comes is weight and strength.
The Butterfly frame is considerably stronger than the Scrim Jim however it cannot simply be held in ones hands and once assembled it usually needs to be mounted to two Combo Stands. It is important to note though, that despite its extra weight it is incredibly stronger than the Scrim Jim and while in even the slightest wind the Scrim Jim may bend and break incurring extra costs to your production, the Butterfly Frame will remain intact.
