Hasselblad at a wedding…
Wanted by everyone but not always possible…
This is the common misconception about medium format cameras.
However, Hasselblad cameras are becoming more and more “outside friendly.”
Increasingly becoming more and more high ISO friendly by using ever improving technology to reduce the amount of noise that has been part and parcel of medium format digital photography since it’s beginnings.
Hasselblad cameras are slowly being trusted by photographers who are not studio based and need flexible and adaptable cameras but superior quality imagery and to cut down post-production times.
Capture rates are still understandably slower than 35mm systems but many photographers are realising that the ability to capture moments is not just a matter of setting the camera on aperture priority and holding down the shutter button.
Jean-Pierre Uys is one such photographer.
Very talented, with a dynamic approach and an old school mind set to image quality he was more than keen to give a H4D40 a run at a real wedding.
As soon as the ceremony was over Jean was seen reaching for the Hassy at every opportunity! When not diving under an umbrella to shelter from the inevitable rain clouds that magically appeared as it was time to take photos in the middle of a field..
Here are a few of his Hasselblad take images from the day.
Great work Jean-Pierre!
Looking forward to seeing what 2012 brings to you and your photography.
