Theme:
Fashion with a 20’s twist

Tech tips:
Lighting tips and techniques
Hasselblad camera software demonstration.

Who Attended:
7 attendees.
All serious amateurs and professional photographers.
Genres ranging from fashion to wedding photographers.
The Workshop:
Neville went through the process of setting up and planning a commercial fashion shoot.
From mood board to make-up, set-up to software and then on to the final product.
All the time giving tips and pointers on everything from camera and software operation to lighting set-ups and even working with clients.

He used three different set ups to show all that is involved and altered the lighting to highlight how even similar lighting can produce very different results. Same model, same photographer, tweaked lights and the difference in results are huge.

R-L = Ring flash only, Beauty dish and side lighting, Beauty dish powered up
The format was very informal and relaxed with everyone getting involved and asking questions as and when they arose.
Many of the attendees had never seen or used a Hasselblad digital camera before so giving them the opportunity to do so, while hearing about another photographers experience was great.

Michael and Hendre from Hasselblad and Profoto SA were on hand to answer any product specific questions and Hendre managed to squeeze in an impromptu demo of the awesome speed of the Pro8 flash units.
Super fast recycling times and really short flash durations allows for frozen image sequencing with perfect colour balance on every shot with these brilliant packs. Really impressive stuff but not to be done if you have an aversion to rapidly flashing lights!!

Easier to see on full size images but each shot in the sequence is sharp, despite all the movement and correctly colour balanced and lit
Everyone involved not only learned a thing or three about photography that day but also had a great time. Proof that no matter how much you know about photography, or think you know, you can always learn more and should never underestimate the importance of speaking to fellow photographers and sharing insight.
It’s an awesome and exciting industry we are involved in and the ability to discuss what we all enjoy with like minded, passionate photographers, makes it even better!
Hope to see you at the next workshop!!!
Special thanks to the following people, without whom this workshop could not have happened:
Anina from Lilyblue http://www.lilyblue.co.za/ - styling, accessories, coordinating
